Excellent used book shop
Tyler E. at Yelp on July 28, 2013

Excellent Used book shop. Very friendly and knowledgable staff. Selection was great and found just what I was looking for. Prices were right on par and even got a unexpected discount.

Love, love, LOVE this store!

Love, love, LOVE this store! I was in East Lansing for a meeting & happened upon the Curious Book Shop by chance. It is swoon-worthy! Fantastic science fiction section, amazing mystery section... I suppose they have other books, too, but I was too taken with my favorite genres to notice. I found some pretty obscure authors' books in the horror section, too. Only the size of my suitcase limited my joy. Sadly, I had to limit my purchases to a reasonable number of books. If I lived in East Lansing, I'd probably just have my paycheck forwarded to them.

Great selection

Great selection. Fun place to browse for just about anything. Someone said it was a true East Lansing gem. I'd agree with that! Help keep this place in EL and stop by!

Curious Book Shop is a true East Lansing gem
Alexandra K. at Yelp on June 25, 2008

Curious Book Shop is a true East Lansing gem. Situated on Grand River Ave., Curious Book Shop stocks a large range of vintage titles, movie books, comics, and other rare finds for competitive prices. I purchased a few Woody Allen script books there, as well as a book on organized crime, each book was individually priced under $10. Obviously super rare books will be more expensive, but every book at Curious Book Shop is in pretty good condition, so it's worth it.

I love this book store
Kristen G. at Yelp on March 26, 2007

I love this book store. It has the towering shelves and wonderful musty smell that makes me feel like I have fallen 100 years back in time. The real treat is the basement. Here lies the collections of old magazines, foreign language books and many other ancient publications. You can sit and flip through Vogue magazines of the 60's, tu puet lire de vieux livres franais merveilleux. It makes me smile, bottom line.

Incredible Store!

This is such a great store. There is such a huge slection, including alot of books that you may not be able to find anywhere else along with your obvious new releases and popular books. The owner is a great guy and hesa always in the store and is ready to help. Its such a cozy shop and is much better than the bigger chain stores.

Great store for "treasure hunting"
Brian F. at Insider Pages on November 10, 2005

This is the type of store you would find if you looked up "Used Bookstore" in the dictionary. Large selection of used books in one of the only store fronts that has remained the same on the Grand River strip in EL for the past 20+ years. It's fun to go and spend some time brousing all the interesting titles.

Take a look. It's in a book.

Next to napalm in the morning, one of my favorite smells in the world is that of a good, used bookstore. Do yourself a favor and skip the Barnes & Nobles and Schulers and check out the Curious Book Shop in East Lansing. While they lack a barista or music section, they more than make up with it in their endless volumes of used books. You can find tomes on every subject under the sun and can find rare and out-of-print volumes that the larger chain stores simply do not stock. Since it is located in the heart of East Lansing, parking can be a bit of a hassle, but once you get into the store you will find it to be a very rewarding experience and you will leave with some very interesting books.
